Taj Mahal - Loved one adored

In 1631, Shah Jahan, emperor during Mughal's period of greatest prosperity, was grief stricken when his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal, died during the birth of their fourteenth child.

  • The court chronicles of Shah Jahan's grief illustrates the love story traditionally held as an inspiration for Taj Mahal.
  • The construction of Taj Mahal begun soon after Mumtaz's death with the principal mausoleum completed in 1648. The surrounding buildings and garden were finished five years later.Emperor Shah Jahan himself described the Taj in these words:

"Should guilty seek asylum here, Like one pardoned, he becomes free from sin. Should a sinner make his way to this mansion, All his past sins are to be washed away. The sight of this mansion creates sorrowing sighs; And the sun and the moon shed tears from their eyes. In this world this edifice has been made; To display thereby the creator's glory"

When I visited along with my friends Taj i was simply delighted to see such a wonderful monument one cant explain in words the Taj.............worth to visit

Celtic city Galway

The city Galway takes its name from the Gaillimh river in Irish language (River Corrib) that formed the western boundary of the earliest settlement, the fort at the bottom of the Gaillimh. The word Gaillimh means "stony" as in "stony river".
  • The population of Galway is largely descended from a mix native Gaelic peoples and of Anglo- Norman settlers.
  • In recent years Galway has attracted a sizeable immigrant community, largely from Poland and other Central European countries and Baltic States states such as Latvia and Lithuania many of whom work in the service industry. Small but growing Asian and African communities has also attracted cultural and religious diversity to this west coast city.

Galway is the west coast city of ireland and it attracts many tourists its due to its mild weather conditions. It has harbor for imports and exports with many European and Americas.

The above photo taken in Galway you can see an amazing Atlantic sea coast. Me had a great 3 day Trip during last September attended for a conference.

Stockholm City Hall

Stockholm City Hall
is the building of the Municipal Council for the City of Stockholm in Sweden . Located on the island of Kungsholmen , the city hall was built on the location where the grand mill Eldkvarn once stood.

The building was designed by architect Ragnar Ostberg , and built between 1911 and1923. Consisting of eight million red bricks the building is centered on two large squares, an outer yard and an indoor hall. The indoor hall was originally intended to be in blue, and is also called the "Blue Hall", or Bla hallen, despite the fact that Östberg changed his mind and decided to keep the red bricks, because he found the colour more beautiful.

  • The Blue Hall is perhaps best known as the dining hall used for the banquet held after the annual Nobel Prize award ceremony. The organ in the Blue Hall is with its 10,270 pipes the largest in Scandinavia.
At the top of the 106 metre (348 foot) tall tower the Three crowns are visible, an old national symbol for Sweden.

Roman Catholic Church Vatican

The Catholic Church or Roman Catholic Church is a Christian church in full communion with the Bishop of Rome. It traces its origins to the original christian community founded by Jesus and spread by the Twelve apostles, in particular Saint Peter.

The Church traces its origins to Jesus and the Twelve apostles, and sees the bishops of the Church as the successors of the Apostles in general, and the Pope as the successor of Saint peter, leader of the Apostles, in particular.

The mission of the Church is to preach the Gospel to all men. Jesus instructed his disciples to "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you: and Lo, I am with you always, until the close of the age"

My friend in 2006 visited Vatican and took this picture, but the sad thing was pick pocketer's theft his wallet so be careful anyone who travels in trains of Vatican

Colosseum of Rome

Colosseum
is an elliptical amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome , Italy, the largest ever built in the Roman empire. It is one of the greatest works of Roman architechure and Engineering.
Originally capable of seating around 50,000 spectators, the Colosseum was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles. It remained in use for nearly 500 years with the last recorded games being held there as late as the 6Th century.
  • As well as the traditional gladiatorial games, many other public spectacles were held there, such as mock sea battles, animal hunts, executions, re-enactments of famous battles, and dramas based on classical mythology.
  • The building eventually ceased to be used for entertainment in early medieval era. It was later reused for such varied purposes as housing, workshops, quarters for a religious order, a fortress, a quarry and a christian shrine.
  • Although it is now in a ruined condition due to damage caused by earth quakes and stone-robbers, the Colosseum has long been seen as an iconic symbol of Imperial Rome.
  • Today it is one of modern Rome's most popular tourist attractions and still has close connections with the, Roman Catholic Church as each Good Friday the pope leads a torchlit "Way of the Cross" procession to the amphitheatre.

The Colosseum is also depicted on the Italian version of the five euro cent coin.

In the movie Gladiator the same colosseum was digitally reconstructed.
